enjoy riding solo anywhere near as much as i do sidecar - way too much sidecar psychology in my head for 2 wheels! Giving it a dirty great big handful when in a sticky situation just doesn`t work the same on a solo! That`s the only reason i`m selling this awesome thumper.It was completely rewired last month when the new generator was fitted.Route reader bulb wired in for over night trials (the route reader itself needs some attention as i found out during the last rather wet overnighter).Dip and main beam/switchgear wired in.New Vector Trial Tech fitted March - (£100 alone).New O ring chain fitted January and only covered 2 trials.New oil filter in March, again only 2 trials since.New Twin Air filter waiting to be fitted, just haven`t got round to it.It has a spare 14T sprocket as i`ve fitted a recently new Talon 13T. It has an enduro bag fitted to the tail which ive used to carry spare tubes and tools.Its currently running on a Mitchy MT43 (New March) on the front and a V Rubber on the rear (both approved trials tyres) with plenty of life left in them.Tax till Dec 31stMOT till Sept 21stThe only bad point that i can think of is one of the rad shroud graphics has started peeling off - this has never bothered me for what i`ve been doing with it. many bikes over the years ktm crf husky etc and believe the 98 kx 250 to be one of the best crossers ever made. Being a proper 98 with the correct 1851 barrel this is one of if not the quickest kx`s made. Dont be put of by the age as, i have had this bike a while and always maintained her properly. This winter i stripped her back to a bare frame and rebuilt her replacing every thing needed to get her ready for the season, she has approximately 5 hrs on a new piston, with small and big ends, all fluids changed, ngk iridium plug, gear oil changed every two rides, selects all gears as she should, loads of low down torque, a punchy mid range and a hard hit very fast bike and not for novice riders unless you like hanging on. She has had new michelin ac10`s front rear, new heavy duty tubes, new rim locks and new bearings, black excel tagasso rims not painted, new front and rear sprockets( 13t and 51t) as well as new regina gold chain. Braking wavy discs front and rear, new gear lever, apico easy clutch, new pads front and rear and green rim lock nuts. The bike has Renthal Fat Bars on with new grips. It starts and runs sweet every time. The suspension has be revalved and set up when i brought it by Pro Action for 12 and half stone rider and is so nice and smooth to ride.. I am a novice rider and the bike has not been hammerd what so ever i just use it at weekends for fun. The reason for sale is i am due to start working in France soon and works giving me a smaller van so i have decided to sell rather then buy a new van and just keep it sat in my workshop for months. There is one small crack in the side air box panel but i have taped it up so it just needs a nice decal or carbon f grafics to cover it... apart from a couple of scrathes on the back pipe the bike is in excellent condition.. Its still on its original front tyre and brake disc.. The bike will come with the stand you see plus air box cover and pipe bung.. I do have 2012 Thor orange slab kit and Thor black slab kit for sale as well, if interested bring some cash and we will talk. please NO silly offers or time wasters if you havent got the money then dont email or ring me... I`m confdent that it`ll go thru the MOT and am willing to put a years Tax and MOT on it if you come up close to the £1400 asking price. A wonderful 4 stroke thumper I`ve been using it daily on road for the past 2 years on a commute each day and it`s been no problem come wind, rain snow/ ice or shine. Doesn`t seem to have been off road much. Few odd scratches here and there, but in better shape than I was after 15 years. Used daily, it kicks over within 1 - 2 kicks every time. If you leave it for a week it`ll take 5 - 10. I`m only selling it now because my knees are shot and I need an electric start and the KLR only has a kick start. I got it originally because I could get both feet on the ground when sat on. I`m 5ft 10ish but it`s much better for stability and control It`s a 15 year old bike but most bits seem to be originals, panels, mudguards, tank are all in good shape. Seat has a small tear where the strap crosses it, a strip of gaffer or duck take has been used to cover it previously. Colour is correct for year. All these KLRs can be dated by their colour. 1997 - 1998 for some reason were nicknamed `The Barbie Years ! which you can see from the purple and turqoise green colours throughout. laning and I`m only selling as I have bought another bike and no longer have the space for it.The bike has just been MOTd and has road tax until August so can be ridden straight away.I have recently had the top end of the engine rebuilt with new piston and piston rings and had the valves reground so there should be no problems there. The engine pulls strong and selects all gears smoothly. The speedo is showing 36000km but I don`t believe this to be correct because the speedo is not original. Chain and sprockets were replaced only 1000km ago, and the tyres are Michelin off road tyres.As expected for a bike of it`s age and use it has scratches and marks and is not to be confused with a new bike.The valve clearances are about due for adjustment (Iv`e been quoted around £45 for this).I have a box of assorted NOS Kawasaki spares including clutch plates, gaskets, Bearings, and seals that will go with the bike.I also have a Acrabis oversized fuel tank that I am selling seperately but if interested I will do a deal for the right price.Thanks for looking.
