enjoy riding solo anywhere near as much as i do sidecar - way too much sidecar psychology in my head for 2 wheels! Giving it a dirty great big handful when in a sticky situation just doesn`t work the same on a solo! That`s the only reason i`m selling this awesome thumper.It was completely rewired last month when the new generator was fitted.Route reader bulb wired in for over night trials (the route reader itself needs some attention as i found out during the last rather wet overnighter).Dip and main beam/switchgear wired in.New Vector Trial Tech fitted March - (£100 alone).New O ring chain fitted January and only covered 2 trials.New oil filter in March, again only 2 trials since.New Twin Air filter waiting to be fitted, just haven`t got round to it.It has a spare 14T sprocket as i`ve fitted a recently new Talon 13T. out when i contacted Kawasaki with frame and engine numbers to make sure it was a 1998. | The bike rides mint it has just been rebuilt a full clean and regrease all bearings checked and replaced where necessary. Also has a new twin air filter, all balls rear wheel bearings with dust seals. | Front forks have also been checked and oil changed. | Piston and rings checked and are fine bike starts first kick all the time with no problems and is very very easy once you know how to. | I have had and ridden other 500`s mainly cr`s and find the kx is a far better bike to ride although I admit the aluminium framed 500 bikes do look the dogs danglies. The bike outperforms me and is not for a novice but I have ridden on mx tracks aswell as enduros and handles well even in tight wooded sections. | I run the bike on auto transmission oil as its what i`ve always used on all 2 stroke bikes I have had and never had premature engine or gearbox failure. let me down and always starts first kick whether it`s hot or cold. It recently went back to Moto - Xtreme for a full inspection and they said the engine (valves, clearances, piston E.T.C) was spot on, all that it needed was a set of rear brake pads and a carb strip and clean. I recently fitted a set of Flo green plastics, One industries graphics and Zero Nine numbers, and a Hole shot Device. The old plactics are fitted with Molson Kawasaki graphics and are included in the sale, and some brand new (still in the packet) fork guards. Also has an FMF Powercore 4 Rear silencer. I am only an AMCA Junior so bike has only ever been ridden steady and has not had a hard life, and I believe the condition reflects this. many bikes over the years ktm crf husky etc and believe the 98 kx 250 to be one of the best crossers ever made. Being a proper 98 with the correct 1851 barrel this is one of if not the quickest kx`s made. Dont be put of by the age as, i have had this bike a while and always maintained her properly. This winter i stripped her back to a bare frame and rebuilt her replacing every thing needed to get her ready for the season, she has approximately 5 hrs on a new piston, with small and big ends, all fluids changed, ngk iridium plug, gear oil changed every two rides, selects all gears as she should, loads of low down torque, a punchy mid range and a hard hit very fast bike and not for novice riders unless you like hanging on. She has had new michelin ac10`s front rear, new heavy duty tubes, new rim locks and new bearings, black excel tagasso rims not painted, new front and rear sprockets( 13t and 51t) as well as new regina gold chain. Braking wavy discs front and rear, new gear lever, apico easy clutch, new pads front and rear and green rim lock nuts.
