It has always been well maintained regardless of cost and has a number of quality after market add ons. The bike had been owned by a mature owner before me who works with my dad which is the reason why i bought it because i knew it had not been used and abused, it is in fantastic condition and had been maintained to a high standard. The only thing of note is a small alloy weld repair on the crank case at some point as pictured. The previous owner had set it up and used it for enduro/trail riding rather than motoX which is why it has a side stand and fly wheel weight added, but he injured himself, so ended up never used it. Since i have owned the bike i have only used it for enduro riding (www.endurokent.com) and for fun on my dads farm. Overall it is a fantastic bike with plenty of power and is not for the faint hearted. The bike has just had a fresh oil change, coolant change, Air filter etc and even comes with a full tank of fuel. All it needs now is a new rider. this off a friend who has owned it for the past 10 years and it was in regular off road use until a couple of years ago where it was then kept in his garage. I have put fresh fuel in and got it running and it stil runs well. It will need a service and the brakes are binding slightly so it will need looking at before use. The bike is in quite good condition for its age apart from the odd bit of wear and tear, front tyre is worn and wil need replacing. The rear light kit is missing along with the number plate. The v5 has not been found yet but if it does turn up then its a bonus. This is a genuine sale and a full receipt will be given to the new owner. spare time. Overall not a bad bike considering its a 16 year old motocrosser. Sold as a non runner due to an irregular spark. I havnt really looked into it to be honest. Has stacks of compression so top end is fine. Selects gears fine and clutch feels ok. From what i can see the bike will need clutch case gasket as it currently only has gasket sealant. The right hand crank case has been repaired in the past (welded) but looks messy. if i was keeping it i would find a replacment but thats just me. Also the swingarm bolt isnt the original one as its a smaller diameter so would need to get a propper one. Apart from that its just the plastics that really let it down cosmetically, previous owner tried to paint them...bad idea! | now if that hasnt put you off there are lots of postive points... | Both brakes work well. | Front showa forks are really clean with no sign of leaks. | Rear shock is fine. | Frame looks strong and crack free, been powder coated in the past. | Engine has lots of compression. | Has a SPES exhaust system which is in great condition. | Wheels are straight but are just standard which have been painted in the past. | good sprockets. | overall this is a great project which wont cost too much money to put right. that you get with an enduro bike. The bike has only been used at the weekends for green laning and starts, runs, and sounds brilliant. Its never let me down and is excellent for down the lanes. It was stripped down last winter with all the lighting system wiring loom replaced and every nut and bolt checked. The full day/night MOT expires on the 16/03/2013 and TAX on the 28/02/2013. It was serviced recently with new air filter, oil filter, iridium spark plug, oil and coolant. Also fitted a motion pro oil filter magnet. The bike is registered on a 55 plate. Replaced December 2011-the steering, upper rear shock, swingarm and swingarm linkage bearings and seals were replaced with All Balls bearing and seal kits. January 2012-the throttle, clutch and hot start cable were replaced. The front sprocket shaft collar, oil seal and o ring were replaced. A new XC lighting system wiring loom was fitted. Febuary 2012-a renthal front spocket and renthal o ring chain was fitted. An apico evolite red rear sprocket was fitted. March 2012-michelin ultra heavy duty inner tubes fitted front and rear. And a wavey front disc brake fitted. I have receipts for all of the above, Bad points No speedo, the speedo drive is there and the power supply for the speedo light. Never bothered me down the lanes. This bike is most suited to the 8 - 12yr olds - unless of course your youngster has a bit of experience.My son purchased this bike himself (with some inheritance money) from Fowlers in Bristol about four years ago, paying just shy of £800. He learnt to ride on this machine, but never really used it for serious moto X as he just outgrew it and bought a 125CC. Since that time, we have played around on it a few times every year and then put it away again. In four years, this bike has had no more than 20hrs use. My son has now decided that he wants a sailing dinghy, so the bikes are going to finance his latest dream.The bike is a 70cc, which means its got more torque and more speed than a fifty. Its slightly higher and heavier than most 50cc bikes too. However, it is a good starter because of the semi automatic 3 speed gear box. Although the bike is a 2002 model the actual manufacture date stated on the ‘letter on newness` from Honda is 8th August 2001 hence the DVLA gave her an age related plate from 2001, a `Y` plate. Weighing only 87.5kg dry and developing 41bhp, it`s very manoeuvrable and powerful. Since owning the bike I have maintained it regularly, oil change after every other ride, new Wiseco piston, rings and little end bearing fitted 29th October 2011. for about three years by his young son who outgrew it. It was stood up for three years in a garage and not used. It has since had new piston rings fitted and valves ground in and new top end gaskets. It has also had an oil change and new chain fitted. The bike was cleaned up to sell on and had the frame and other parts repainted with new plastics all round and new grips. The original plastics will be included but are scratched. The chainguard is missing and the side stand needs replacing but there is a temporary sidestand to park it up but needs to be removed before riding, although someone with a welder could make necessary adjustments to enable it to be fitted safely. Apart from these two points it is a sound reliable fast bike. Please feel free to email questions but as this is being sold for someone else it may take a day or two to respond. old cr500, the only parts on this bike from the knackered one, is the forks, shock and swingarm, every thing else I have either bourght brand new or off e-bay, the bike is in mint condition apart from it could do with a new front brake line, a set of rad shrouds and a front mud guard if we`re picky. It has got brand new gmx radiators, brand new fmf gnarly front pipe, brand new fmf power core silencer, it has boysen stage two reeds, a new piston kit from lings honda, suspension linkage bearings, talon sprockets front and back with a renthal r1 chain, back and sides plastics a brand new clutch, a brand new cluch casing with water pump attached, (1986 model), also I have replaced the fork seals and filled them to their correct level. I bought the engine for 500 off ebay nearly 2 years ago, since then I have done all this work to it and only ridden it three or four times, the piston has barely been worn in, when I bourght it, the guy on ebay said that the engine had been stood under a bench for twenty years ready to be rebuilt but he never got around to it. Anyway when I got the engine, the bearing behind the water pump had got a little bit of metal stuck in it, seizing the engine, hence a new clutch cover, the bottom end and every thing looks like new, thats why i didn`t do the bottom end. I have for sale is my CRF490. Over the past six months i have built this bike with great attention todetail and at great cost. When I purchased it late 2011 it was a bit of a shedand needed the usual motocross wear and tear parts replacing. So I stripped itdown and started building my ultimate motocross dream bike. | I started by having the frame andswing arm bead blasted, acid dipped and powder coated in satin black. This isvery durable hard wearing and looks amazing. Along with the frame I had all theengine casings powder coated at great cost, the inner casings in metallicsilver and outer casings in gold. It means all you have to do is wash it and itlooks like new again unlike aluminium which goes dull over time. | When putting the engine backtogether it had a new Hot Rods crank fitted plus every bearing, seal and Gasketpossible. Its got a new Hindson clutch basket along with full clutchplate/spring kit. To try improve traction and increase the torque of the engineI got a heavyweight flywheel as well. I fit a full vertex Big Bore 490ccCylinder kit which is a very nice piece of engineering and is finished of verywell. To ensure good starting and reliability I got a new cylinder head andstage 3 Hotcam as recommended by Vertex with new valves fitted and shimmed by aprofessional engine builder. of buying it that it was a 2005 bike but while buying a water pump seal from Honda was told its a 2003.(no leaks ) I was also told that there was a recall for a clutch cable,this is on its way from Honda.The bike has had all new suspension bushes and swinging arm bushes (done buy the previous owner) and has shown me the old parts and honda packets to prove this(I still have them).I have also been told that a wiesco piston has been fitted and a top end rebuild but hasnt been rebored.The piston would have had less than 2 hours use.Renthal bars.I have a few small spares, gasket,bearings,leavers.It will need a new rear tyre but the front has life in it still.I have ridden the bike(couldnt resist) and it goes like stink.I also have the original Honda workshop manual that tells you how to do just about everything inc engine strip down.Feel free to ask any questions.You are more than welcome to look before you buy and hear it running .I dont mind a bit of haggling but dont take the micky !I have put a new water pump seal in and gasket,changed the engine oil and fitted a new plug.if you buy it now a non refundable deposit of £50 is required and collection within 5 days.I might be able to deliver at the cost of £1 per mile paid before delivery but contact me to agree on price before you buy..good luck.
