Being a proper 98 with the correct 1851 barrel this is one of if not the quickest kx`s made. Dont be put of by the age as, i have had this bike a while and always maintained her properly. This winter i stripped her back to a bare frame and rebuilt her replacing every thing needed to get her ready for the season, she has approximately 5 hrs on a new piston, with small and big ends, all fluids changed, ngk iridium plug, gear oil changed every two rides, selects all gears as she should, loads of low down torque, a punchy mid range and a hard hit very fast bike and not for novice riders unless you like hanging on. She has had new michelin ac10`s front rear, new heavy duty tubes, new rim locks and new bearings, black excel tagasso rims not painted, new front and rear sprockets( 13t and 51t) as well as new regina gold chain. Braking wavy discs front and rear, new gear lever, apico easy clutch, new pads front and rear and green rim lock nuts. The oil was still coming out clear green so I started to change it every two rides and do the oil filter at the same time. Air filter changed every ride. Because of the quality of maintenance when I got the piston and rings done the old one came out like new with only just starting to show signs of use. The mechanic couldn`t believe I was putting another in but it keeps it running sweet when the work is done. Since it has had 13.5 hours riding.I race downhill mountainbikes so this doesn`t get used in the summer so for it to be sitting there is a waste and I want to go to a 250f next.Fully got it prepped but by the time everything arrived I only got two rides on it before my season started.
